چکیده

We show that the transmission through single and double -function potential barriers of strength P =VWb / vF in bilayer graphene is periodic in P with period . For a certain range of P values we find states that are bound to the potential barrier and that run along the potential barrier. Similar periodic behavior is found for the conductance. The spectrum of a periodic succession of -function barriers Kronig-Penney model in bilayer graphene is periodic in P with period 2 . For P smaller than a critical value Pc, the spectrum exhibits two Dirac points while for P larger than Pc an energy gap opens. These results are extended to the case of a superlattice of -function barriers with P alternating in sign between successive barriers; the corresponding spectrum is periodic in P with period .

Single-layer and bilayer graphene superlattices: collimation, additional Dirac points and Dirac lines.

We review the energy spectrum and transport properties of several types of one-dimensional superlattices (SLs) on single-layer and bilayer graphene. In single-layer graphene, for certain SL parameters an electron beam incident on an SL is highly collimated. On the other hand, there are extra Dirac points generated for other SL parameters. Using rectangular barriers allows us to find analytical ...

Magnetic Kronig-Penney model for Dirac electrons in single-layer graphene

The properties of Dirac electrons in a magnetic superlattice (SL) on graphene consisting of very high and thin (δ-function) barriers are investigated. We obtain the energy spectrum analytically and study the transmission through a finite number of barriers. The results are contrasted with those for electrons described by the Schrödinger equation. In addition, a collimation of an incident beam o...

Ballistic transport through graphene nanostructures of velocity and potential barriers.

We investigate the electronic properties of graphene nanostructures when the Fermi velocity and the electrostatic potential vary in space. First, we consider the transmission T and conductance G through single and double barriers. We show that G for velocity barriers differs markedly from that for potential barriers for energies below the height of the latter and it exhibits periodic oscillatio...

Transmission Properties of the Periodic Structures Based on Graphene Nonlinear Optical Conductivity in a Terahertz Field

By developing the terahertz (THz) technology, in addition to generators and detectors of THz waves, the existence of some tools such as modulators and filters are needed. THz filters are important tools for various applications in the field of chemical and biological sensors. Linear and nonlinear optical properties of the graphene have attracted lots of attention. In fact graphene exhibits vari...

Nonlinearity Effect on 1D Periodic and Disordered Lattices

The Kronig-Penney model is used to study the effect of nonlinear interaction on the transmissive properties of both ordered and disordered chains. We found that nonlinearity can either localize or delocalize the electronic states in ordered systems depending on both its sign and strength but there exists a critical strength above which all states are localized. In the disordered case, however, ...
